The Content

•Name and Contact Information - The first thing to put on your resume is your basic information. Include your name, address, phone number, email address and any other contact information.

•Career Objective - For the fresh graduates the career objective should emphasize their skills and abilities. Ideally, it is short and concise. An important aspect again is, tailor it depending on the company and the position you are applying.

•Skills - Next part is your skill sets. These should be relevant to the job. Highlight the skills specific to the targeted job.

•Work Experience - You may think why this section is required for fresh grads. But here you can highlight the extra-curricular activities relevant to the job. Include your volunteer work experience if any, your internships or any part-time jobs that you have done. Also include your active participation in organizing events or conferences, or a position you held in civic or school organization. While writing your work-ex, do not focus on your job profile; rather accentuate your achievement on that experience.

•Education - For fresh grads, this section is important as you can flaunt your capabilities. Start with your highest educational attainment. Include the school, passing year and honors with your GPA or GWA if it is high on merit to gain some brownie point. Along with the degree list any vocational courses or training you have had.

The Layout

•Keep it Short - The main aim of your resume is to catch the interest of the recruiter. This is best achieved when you keep it short yet crisp pitching all your selling points perfectly. Remember it is just your introduction, a maximum of two pages resume is enough, details can be provided during the interview. Hence a practice here is to use the keywords the employer is looking for.

•Professional Layout – The resume should be attractive and at the same time easy to read. A good layout and organized resume will immediately put you in the good books of the employer. Generally, the font styles used are Times New Roman, Arial, Calibri, Georgia, and Helvetica with the font size between 10-12 points.

•Profile Image – For jobs in Philippines, a recent 2*2 picture in a professional outfit is preferred. Be sure to look your professional best in the picture.

•No Typographical and Grammatical Errors – Such type of errors are a big letdown. If you have these errors in your resume, the employer will look at you as someone who is not detail-oriented and have poor written communication skills.
